Experience

 

Business Partnership Intern, YSS (Youth and Shelter Services), Ames, IA - Spring 2019 - Current

Being an intern at YSS, I am responsible for recognizing community partners that donate time, money and services to the organization. I have contributed to planning fundraising events, maintaining community partner relationships, recognizing donors, and communicating within the organization. I am currently working on a community partner campaign that will better recognition efficiency for YSS.

 

Social Media Intern, Iowa State University Study Abroad Center, Ames, IA - Fall 2018

With this role, I was responsible for creating and maintaining a blog by posting weekly about my time abroad. I was also required to have two Instagram post per week with relevance to my time abroad. I created photo galleries, personal blog articles, and travel videos for my weekly updates.

 

A Semester Abroad, Iowa State University, Ames, IA - Fall 2018

This experience broadened my perspective on culture, language, and people. Due to studying abroad, I am now proficient in the Spanish language. Living away from family, friends, and a familiar community gave me a more independent mindset. During my time abroad, I was involved in English tutoring, interchange club, campus Bible study, and blogged for the ISU Study Abroad Center.

 

Community Advisor, ISU Department of Residence, Ames, IA -  F2017 - S2018

With this position, I underwent two weeks of diversity and community development training. I served as an active resource for students in need of academic and personal support. I facilitated and advised floor government and community events. I worked closely with seven other staff members, collaborating and communicating. We had weekly meetings programming student outreach events, socials, and student wellness campaigns.

 

High School Camp Coordinator, Twin Lakes Bible Camp, Mansen, IA - Summer 2017

Over a five-week period, I co-coordinated a leadership and community development camp for 22 high school students. As coordinators, we purposefully planned out each hour of the program with the intent to create fun memories and memorable learning experiences. Through the summer, I planned canoe trips, team challenges, Bible studies, and work projects.
